Last month my mom went to Vietnam with her friends. She came back with a whole variety of Vietnamese food; Vietnamese coffee, dried fruit snacks, some crunchy peanut thing and lots more which I can't remember now.
But what I was most excited about was the Vietnamese spring roll. My mom bought the essential ingredients needed to make Vietnamese spring rolls; edible rice wrappers, fish sauce and super spicy Vietnamese garlic chilli sauce. It is very easy to make and makes a refreshing change from the usual fried spring roll we eat here. Also, it is super healthy!
However, I'm not sure where you can buy the rice wrappers here though =/.
Ingredients
Edible rice wrappers
Cooked shrimps
Cooked chicken strips
Chopped basil leaves
Chopped fresh mint leaves
A small amount of water
Dipping sauce
Fish sauce
White sugar
Garlic chilli sauce
Method
1. Sprinkle some amount of water onto the rice wrappers to soften it.
2. Place shrimps, chicken strips, basil leaves and mint leaves in a row across the center.
3. Fold the sides inward.
4. Tightly roll the wrapper.
5. For the sauce, mix the fish sauce, white sugar and garlic chilli sauce together.
6. Serve spring roll together with sauce for dipping.
Tip: If the sauce is too salty or concentrated for your taste, you can add a small amount of water into it.
